The Origin of National Day
The phrase "National Day", which originally referred to the matter of national festival, can be traced back to the west Jin at the earliest stage. The literary figure Lu Ji of the Western Jin Dynasty once recorded in his article "On the Five Feudal Lords" that "during the National Day, one should enjoy the benefits alone, and not worry about harm". In the feudal era of our country, there was no greater event of national celebration than the coronation and birthday of an emperor. Therefore, in ancient China, the enthronement and birthday of the emperor were called "National Day". Today marks the anniversary of the founding of the country as National Day.
October 1, 1949, the anniversary of the founding of New China. It should be clear that, in many people's minds, l October 1949 at Tiananmen Square in Beijing, hundreds of thousands of soldiers and civilians to participate at the founding ceremony of the PRC. In fact, the impression in people's minds is not accurate. Because, October 1, 1949 ceremony, held in Tiananmen Square is the establishment ceremony of the Central People's Government, not the founding ceremony. In fact, the Republic of China "a nation", meaning that the establishment of the People's Republic early in the year prior to October 1 has been announced a week before. Was not called the "founding ceremony," but as "the founding ceremony. Time is September 21, 1949. On that day, Chairman Mao Zedong of the Preparatory Committee for the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference announced the birth of the new China in his opening speech at the first session of the CPPCC.
So what is the National Day on October 1st? At the first meeting of the First National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Xu Guangping said, "Commissioner Ma Xulun can't come on leave. He asked me to say that the founding of the People's Republic of China should have National Day, so he hoped that the Council would decide to designate October 1 as National Day." Mao Zedong said, "We should make a proposal to the government, which will decide."
On October 2, 1949, the Central People's Government passed the Resolution on the National Day of the People's Republic of China, which designated October 1 as the National Day of the People's Republic of China and used it as the day to declare the establishment of the People's Republic of China. Since then, every year on Oct. 1 to become the grand people of all nationalities to celebrate the festival. Once National Day becomes a new and universal holiday form, it carries the function of reflecting the cohesion of the country and the nation. The large-scale celebration activities on National Day are also a concrete manifestation of the government's mobilization and appeal. Displaying strength, enhancing national confidence, reflecting cohesion, and exerting appeal are the main contents of the National Day celebration.
