A magnetic box with foam tray lives or dies on one number: the clearance between the cavity wall and the vial. Two millimetres loose and the 10ml bottle rattles in transit; two millimetres tight and the customer cracks a nail trying to lift it out. This magnetic closure box is built around a CNC cut tray engineered from your actual bottle drawing, wrapped in a printed rigid gift box finished in soft touch lamination.
The body is 1200 to 1500 gsm greyboard with a 2.5 mm wall, wrapped in 157 to 200 gsm art paper carrying your artwork. Two to four concealed magnets hold the lid aligned, so the box closes with a controlled snap instead of a loose flap. That single detail is the difference between a luxury packaging box and a folding carton. For perfume brands the tactile layer matters as much as the print: soft touch lamination gives a velvet, fingerprint-resistant surface that photographs beautifully on retail shelves and in unboxing videos.
Inside, the tray carries the real engineering. We cut EVA, flocked EVA, PU wrapped EVA or moulded pulp on a CNC line at plus or minus 0.5 mm, so each 10ml vial, the cap, the atomiser bulb and the sample card sit in their own cavity. Velvet flocking keeps glass surfaces free of scratches, and a satin ribbon pull lets the customer lift the set without digging with a fingernail.
For importers shipping to the US and EU, freight is usually the second largest cost after tooling. Our foldable rigid structure lets custom printed packaging ship flat with trays nested in separate cartons, cutting shipped volume by 60 to 70 percent against pre-assembled boxes. That saving is what makes a perfume packaging box programme viable at 500 to 1,000 pieces per SKU.

Perfume sets are the hardest packaging brief in cosmetics: fragile glass, small vials, high perceived value, and a buyer who opens the box before reading the label. The table below maps the concerns we hear in every sourcing round to the design answer built into this magnetic gift box.
| Application | Customer Concern About The Magnetic Gift Box | How This Box Solves It |
|---|---|---|
| 10ml perfume set, 5 to 9 vials | Will the foam cavity actually fit my vial without wobbling or scratching the glass? | Cavity is CNC cut from your bottle drawing or a physical sample at plus or minus 0.5 mm, and we photograph the vial seated in the tray for approval before production. Flocked surface protects the glass. |
| Perfume discovery and sample kits | Small vials fall out when the lid is opened on a retail shelf | The tray depth is set so vial tops sit flush or slightly below the rim, and the lid magnet holds the set closed through handling and courier drops. |
| Luxury gift set gifting | The box feels cheap in the hand and the surface shows fingerprints | 2.5 mm rigid wall plus soft touch lamination gives a warm velvet hand feel and fingerprint resistance that a gloss carton cannot match. |
| Brand launch and limited editions | We need the print to look premium, not like a generic stock box | Full surface CMYK plus Pantone, with foil logo on a soft touch surface — the most requested combination for perfume launches. |
| E-commerce and DTC shipments | Freight and warehouse space per unit are too expensive | Foldable rigid format ships flat with trays nested separately, reducing shipped volume by 60 to 70 percent against pre-assembled boxes. |
| Beauty subscription boxes | Every monthly drop has a different vial count, we cannot re-tool each time | Modular tray inserts let one box shell cover 3, 5 and 9 vial configurations, so you keep one dieline across the year. |
| Duty free and travel retail | Boxes get handled hard and edges scuff on the shelf | Turned edge wrapping on 2.5 mm board resists scuffing and humidity; corner boards and pallets are available for LCL and air cargo. |
| Clean beauty and EU retail | Foam is flagged as plastic waste in our sustainability report | Recyclable moulded pulp or paper honeycomb tray replaces EVA on request, with FSC paper and plastic free packing. |
| Repeat and seasonal orders | Colour drifts between production batches | Pantone match on board and tray, with a retained master sample card for every reorder, so batch two matches batch one. |
One note from our production floor: foam density matters more than thickness. A 25 mm 45D EVA tray holds a 40 g glass vial far better than a 35 mm 25D tray, and it saves height in the carton. Send us the vial weight and we will recommend a density instead of upselling thicker foam.
